The Fifth Pillar of Indian Democracy?
Author : Rajesh k. Pathak mba mpm pgdlllw pgdexim Sunday, August 1, 2010

What is the Fifth Pillar of democracy? The Fifth pillar of democracy is association or group of intellectuals and masters of various profession from different fields e.g. Science, Art, Culture, History, Religions, various society, various classes, Castes, Communities, Exprts in security and defence and others who without any prejudice or biase advocate the true meaning of ‘Co-Existence of natural beings and their welfare’. Their Opinions/suggestion must be published on any dead or live or burning questions or problems. Government representatives must also take into account the suggestion/Opinion/demand put forward by those people and discuss it out in the parliament or state assembly and sort out the problems on its merit basis by whatever means (Passing legislation, implementing/executing/follow ups).

As of now country is facing lots of problems like separatism, religionism, regionalism, corruptions, terrorism, Maoism, naxalism, issues related to development of country, Internal and external security the country, its borders, foreign relations, neighbors relations and many more, and it is believed that government action is not sufficient due to political compulsion to sort out those issues which are directly or indirectly hurting the common man and society at large

Now days in our democracy, respective governments are not doing enough to look into various problems related to common man, they are only thinking to play politics to make platform for next formation of government.

Now Politics is become profession for politicians who are thinking how to be in power so that they can get money and unlimited power for carrying out their selfish activities  , they have forgotten the ‘meaning of welfare of the public’ for which they are elected by common man and common man feels repeated ‘deceive’ and fraud.

Politicians set their agenda during their election campaign and forgot them to fulfill after election. A common man does not have time to question as single person can not take on to political leaders as they have power or group to harass, implicate or torture by many means, and also they are busy in making both hands meet or themselves and their families, they can not afford to spend time in such activities by which they may be in fear of loosing everything.

There has been conspiracy and harassment against common man at every level of governance from ‘Panchati Raj system’ to Central Government, at small level or panchati Raj some small politicians start to harass other parties supporters or other religions people or common man to grab their lands, properties, business, or create situations in such a way that persons starts migrating from existing place to another place. At state level and central levels all parties wants to come in power by any means and have forgotten common man who have given them power and authority by electing them so that they can look after their welfare.

In the election Political leaders wins and loose. But those whose party fails to form a government at state or central levels feels cheated by Government in power as they do  not belong to that party in power and development of his/her areas are neglected mostly. But what happens with common men of those areas as again left undeveloped or backward. Ultimately discrimination does not take place with the leader but with people who abode in those areas, as they have elected candidates and they have expectation from them.

In Indian democracy, all parties talk with developmental agenda and those parties who have communist agendas are more depended on welfare of the mass, now they also have changed their agenda and advocate capitalistic point of view means industrialization of the country, regions, areas for ultimate goal of bigger welfare agenda, people cast their votes and send them to state legislative assembly or parliament but at the end they do not do anything on the name of development or industrialization but starts weeping as they do not have power so they were unable to do anything for that areas/region. So does it mean that common people who have casted their votes in their favor will be deprived off development and welfare which are given to those areas which belong to elected representatives of that party in Power ? This is absolutely wrong and full of vices and prejudice.

There are various issues which are hanging everytime in our mind and society, ultimately Common man feel cheated and hurt, so to keep an eye on above issues and many more, we need some institution without baise or prejudice advocate the ultimate goal of welfare of citizens/common man by all means. That could be ‘Fifth Pillar of the Indian Democracy’. Jai Bihar! Jai Hind!
